About Niwot, Colorado

A quiet community with Front Range views, Niwot is Located just off the Diagonal Highway in between Longmont and Boulder. It is a smaller community, home to about 4300 people. It is located in Boulder County and is an unincorporated town

Niwot was named after Arapaho Chief Niwot, and the word means “Left Hand”.

The downtown features locally owned shops that offer unique collections of jewelry and gifts, art galleries, coffee shops, and restaurants. Also, First Friday art walks are hosted in town every month.

Whistlestop Park is home to the popular Rocks & Rails free summer concert series. Food trucks arrive and the community gathers to enjoy their summer evening. The playground adjacent to the park occupies young kids.

More Niwot Activities

The Boulder Reservoir is located west of Niwot, and is a popular spot for swimming, boating, running, and biking. Boulder’s extensive network of trails are also just miles from Niwot. The LoBo Regional Trail runs through town, and there are many other in town walking, running, biking trails.

Niwot Schools

The public schools in Niwot are above average. They are part of the St. Vrain School District, and receive excellent ratings.
